Maurice Luquet
|
Five Generations of Winemaking !
Viticulture takes centre stage in our family, thanks to Benoit Luquet (1847-1905),
a Vigneron from Fuissé, and Jacques Rollin (1851-1933), Proprietaire-Récoltant.
Jean Luquet (1878-1955) later expanded the business.
Maurice Luquet (1913-2003) took over from his father, Jean, in 1938.
He increased the Domaine’s appellation Pouilly-Fuissé.
Maurice, who was the first person to export Luquet wines through French Embassies
abroad, retired in 1978.
In November 1966, his son Roger, with his wife Renée, moved to the 4.70 hectare estate
that then made up Domaine Luquet Roger .
Following years of hard work, a sales network was forged in France and abroad.
In 1972, all of the harvest was bottled.

The business expanded to include appellation Saint Veran in 1972
and Macon Blanc in 1984, to reach a total of 12 hectares in 1992.

Christine and Patrick Luquet, a few years ago…
Christine (Roger and Renée’s daughter) joined the company in 1987.
Then Thierry Mathieu, Christine’s husband, took up the position
of Chef de Culture, or Viticultural Manager, in 1990.
Finally, in 1992, Roger and Renée's son, Patrick, joined the rest of the family
in the business.

In the same year, Domaine Luquet Roger changed its status to become
GAEC Domaine Luquet Roger .
The 4 th and 5 th generations are now working side by side to increase production of Saint-Veran and Pouilly-Fuissé, as well as Macon-Villages
(in the Cluny region)
By 2005, the wine growing area covered 26 hectares and was made up of the following appellations : POUILLY-FUISSE, SAINT-VERAN, MACON-VILLAGES and CREMANT DE BOURGOGNE.
The Domaine produces 200,000 bottles of wine. 30 % of the wine is sold in France with the remaining 70% being exported throughout the world.
